Painting risers and baseboards

Several years ago, Lee installed new wood floors. He also took the carpeting off our stairs and put in wood treds and risers. I have never had time to spackle the nail holes and repaint them. It is not a super fun work, so I procrastinated this job! I knew that if I was not able to get this done while I was working, I needed to finish this by the end of February before I started my new job.

I began by spackling every tiny nail hole, and then sanding it once it was dry.

Then I taped off the stairs (I am only painting the riser and the surrounding trim., being careful to create a tight seal to prevent bleed-through.

I then painted two coats of baseboard white paint. After allowing the paint to dry for 30 minutes, I pulled up the tape. I have found it works better if I pull off the tape before the paint is completely dry, the tape pulls up easier.

I taped off all of the baseboards and applied two coats of base coat white.

Well, I am proud to say that this BIG job is finally completed!!
