Palette Herb Garden

I decided I wanted to start an herb garden. I wanted small pots, and I did not want them to take up a ton of room.

A neighbor was throwing this pallet out with his garbage. My husband (Lee) texted him to ask if we could retrieve it. Lee rescued it from the trash before the garbage trucks came by!
I cleaned it up, put in a few more nails, so it was very sturdy.
I had a few of these pots, and I bought 2 more.
I used electrical wire (garbage from Lee’s company) to attach the pots to the frame. The rest is up to you..choose the herbs you will use most. I selected 2 basil, 1 flat leaf parsley, 1 lavender, 1 lemon thyme.
One last step. I had the planter leaning against a wall, and thought it might fall forward due to the weight of the pots. There were a few extra boards that I pulled off the pallet, and Lee attached them to the bottom to balance the weight better.

I have harvested the basil, parsley, and thyme for a ‘Green Goddess Salad Dressing’ (see recipe), and the lavender is doing a good job keeping mosquitos off our patio!!
