Another successful week of walking….

I walked 6 days last week! I consider this a huge milestone for me. I made the decision to walk every day but Sunday last week. The fresh cold air is exhilarating! Is it easy to motivate to bundle up and get outside each morning..not always. But, once my shoes are laced, I go for it. I also found that listening to Pod Casts while I walk is really great, and keeps my mind stimulated.

A few of my current favorites are:

  • The Sunday Sit-Down with Willie Geist-Willie interviews all sorts of people, choose who you like!

  • Literally! with Rob Lowe-Rob interviews people he knows Maria Shriver, Aaron Sorkin, Demi Moore. He is funny, it is great to hear from some of his ‘Brat Pack’ friends!

  • Finding Fred-A fascinating look at how The Mister Rogers show impacted the lives of many people today. A great pick-me-up!

My sister Laura is my walking inspiration. She is a runner, and she has been running every morning since the temperatures cooled a bit this fall. The gift that has come from her running has been beautiful photos of sunrises. She has been posting them on her social media, and each one is prettier than the next. Seeing these pics reminds me to slow down and look around and enjoy being outside. Thanks Laura!

The winter months are some of the best months for sunrises. When the air is crisp and clear the colors are more vibrant because air circulation is less sluggish than in the summer. Even if you do not plan to walk or run in the wee hours, push yourself to get out and enjoy a sunrise or sunset this winter. Try to get out a few minutes before the sun rises (or sets) so you can fully enjoy the moment. It is a wonderful way to begin your day.
